SYNOPSIS: Wang becomes the injured fighter courtesy of Lung Fei's arm-chopping blow, who crawls away from the carnage (delivered by karate, Thai, Tibetan, judo, yoga and tae kwon do heavies) to be nursed back to health via some more severe training before going one-on-one with each and every one of the villains, culminating in a well-shot spooky end sequence in a quarry setting. Wang is battered and blinded, but un-bowed in the final frames and one cannot fail to admire the sheer audacity of it all.

Master of the Flying Guillotine (1975)
aka One-Armed Boxer 2
aka One-Armed Boxer v. Flying Guillotine

Price: $9.75

The One Armed Boxer returned in the sequel Master of the Flying Guillotine which has recently been screened again to much praise. The plot developments here are even more mind-boggling with the appearance of the head-removing weapon of the title and a veritable army of exotically styled villains, including a Yogi with 'extendable' arms no less. In a reverse to the other films, the female character is wounded and nursed back to health by one of the villains while Wang resorts to even more 'supernatural' camera tricks (witness the two 'walking across the ceiling' scenes) to overcome his enemies.

Considered by many to be the #1 best Kung Fu film ever.

The dying master of the powerful Poison Clan dispatches his last pupil on a crucial mission. Worried that the skills he has taught are being used to evil ends, he orders the Yan Tieh to trace a retired colleague and warn him that the fortune he amassed from the clan activities is under threat from five of his former pupils. Each an expert in his own lethal combat style, The Centipede, The Snake, The Scorpion, The Lizard, and The Toad comprise a truly invincible force. Yan must discover the whereabouts and true identities of these deadly masked warriors, and decide which, if any, he can trust to join him in his perilous mission. A blindingly choreographed blend of intrigue and violence, "Five Deadly Venoms" adds a truly original dimension to the kung fu genre.

The Chang Cheh-directed "The Water Margin": the martial arts epic of epics. Based on the true legend of how 108 rebel heroes living in the mountain were able to repeatedly defeat invading Sung armies, the film starred just about anyone who was a name at Shaw Brothers at the time, like David Chiang, Chen Kwan-Tai, and Ti Lung. The primitive battles ultimately end in sharp, visually effective images of death and defeat. This is a must-see for any movie fan.

Sequel

This is a direct sequel to SEVEN BLOWS OF THE DRAGON (1973), an epic about the 108 Warriors of Chinese legend (and the book, `Water Margin'), an outlaw band who fought on the side of the people against corrupt officials. Here the 108 are pardoned by the Emperor and assigned to go after a rebel army encamped at a fortress in Hangchow. Seven volunteers enter the fortress as spies to try and find a way for the Emperor's army to gain entrance. When one of their number, the blustery ill-tempered Black Whirlwind (Fan Mei-Sheng), starts a fight and alerts the guards to their presence, the fortress is sealed up and escape is blocked. Only one man (star David Chiang) manages to flee and get the plans back to the army. Another member of the team hides near the underwater gate to let the army ships through the only available entrance once the attack begins.

Clan Of The White Lotus (1980) aka Fists of The White Lotus

Price: $6.50

As a sequel to Executioners from Shaolin, this standard kung-fu actioner from Shaw Brothers features Liu Jiahui as the fighter Hong Wending whose friends have been killed by the seditious White Lotus Society. He wants revenge. In order to prepare himself for the great confrontation with the head of the White Lotus fighters, Wending is trained by a woman (Hui Yinghong) in how to use her more flexible style of combat. From his boss, he also learns the secret of acupuncture points that are connected with specific parts of the body. Armed with needles placed in his braided hair, he is ready to shut down his opponent like a toy whose batteries are disabled. His opponent, it so happens, is an aged abbot (played by director Lo Lieh) who looks like he could not harm a fly.

Lo Lieh directs himself in this martial arts action film.  He plays White Eyebrow, who has two remarkable skills: He can achieve weightlessness and he can draw his reproductive organs up into his stomach in order to protect them. Gordon Liu suffers a beating at the hands of White Eyebrow, and then must train harder in order to get vengeance.
